What it Takes to Make Deportation Proceedings Humane

Immigration bail bond experts have been following the 2016 Presidential race very closely since one of the main topics includes a heated debate about U.S. immigration policies. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump claims to have a plan to drive out every undocumented immigrant “humanely” in 18 to 24 months, but is offering very little insight into such plans.

Local immigration bail bondsmen know that there are many reasons why this idea is completely unrealistic in practice. There are more than 11 million undocumented immigrants scattered throughout the U.S. and it would take a massive amount of money and man hours to locate them all, and there is no way that you can complete this task humanely.

According to US immigration bail bond services, here is what it would take to make deportation proceedings more “humane”:

  • Ensure due process for all illegal immigrants in deportation proceedings. All people accused with crimes have the right to an attorney and unfortunately this is not true for deportation hearings.
  • Limit immigrant detentions. In order to make detention more humane, those who are detained for small crimes or are seeking asylum should have access to court hearings that can determine eligibility for immigration bonds. There could be much less intrusive methods of detention.
  • Increase the discretion of deportation proceedings. Accounting for factors such as time spent living in the US and for family born and living in the country would allow for a more humane deportation proceeding. Deporting unauthorized parents can have serious implications for children that are born in the US and have citizenship.
