US Immigration Departments Spend $100 Million Transporting Illegals

According is an article from the Washington Post, over $100 million in tax payer money from 2014 was directed towards illegal immigrant resources in the past year. US Immigration Departments, like the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, has spent most of that money transporting the children of illegal immigrants around the US.

The transportation cost per child was roughly $665, which was spent mostly on airplane tickets. These flights shuttled children between US immigration agencies from state to state. The Immigration Reform Law Institute, an organization that fights for and provides illegal immigrant resources, discovered and published the numbers recently to the shock of the immigration community. The organization says the insane figures stem from the Obama administration’s poor immigration decision making in 2012, and the passing of DACA and DAPA.

Removal costs are at around $1,962 per immigrant, which only further illustrates the need for reform. ICE detention centers are not cheap either. According to one study, most families spend a minimum of 72 hours in immigrant detention centers that have to employ childcare providers.  When border patrol members first detain juveniles who are on their own, they pay for hotels to house them, accounting for almost 25 percent of their total yearly budget.

US Immigration Bonds has worked to provide illegal immigrant resources. We assist immigrants so they do not have to become a statistic, and also so tax payers are not burdened with the cost. We hope that the immigration policy in the United States takes these costs into account, and that the future holds systems that are better for all involved.
