Trump’s Deportation and Immigration Plans

According to new Justice Department directives, the Trump Administration will pressure U.S. immigration judges to meet a quota which will require them to process cases faster, expected to clear at least 700 cases a year. The Trump administration is also seeking to close “immigration loopholes”, stating that the immigration laws in the United States are not tough enough, especially in comparison to Mexico and Canada.

In tweets from April 2, 2018, President Trump states:

As ridiculous as it sounds, the laws of our country do not easily allow us to send those crossing our Southern Border back where they came from. A whole big wasted procedure must take place. Mexico & Canada have tough immigration laws, whereas ours are on Obama joke. ACT CONGRESS

He continues,

Honduras, Mexico and many other countries that the U.S. is very generous to, sends many of their people to our country through our WEAK IMMIGRATION POLICIES. Caravans are heading here. Must pass tough laws and build the WALL. Democrats allow open borders, drugs and crime!

Trump’s plan to build the wall at the US-Mexico border is still on the board, as he desires $25 billion for border wall construction earlier in the week. He’s also planning on cracking down on legal immigration. Most immigrants that come to the U.S. have family ties that get them in, but the Trump administration is looking forward to changing that.

The diversity visa lottery, which gives up to 50,000 a chance to become permanent residents of the U.S. every year, has been a huge topic of discussion. The Trump administration has been targeting the temporary visas of these immigrants and doing their best to limit their use.

The administration has immigration plans involving stepping up enforcement by hiring more agents and detaining more illegal immigrants in jails. Although immigrant arrests are on the rise, deportations are down. Trump’s immigration plans are soon to be carried out, so it’s important to stay updated.
