Tech and Business Leaders Support Obama’s Immigration Reform

Keeping updated and informed about the trends in immigration policy and reform is of course a big part of what goes on at US Immigration Bonds. Most recently, a few of the biggest names in the tech and other business industries filed a brief that supports the action taken in regard to immigration reform. Some of the names on the brief included Mark Zuckerberg, Reid Hoffman and Max Levchin.

In total there were 63 business and tech leaders that signed the brief to show support for the immigration reform policy. Texas along with 25 other states sued in a measure to prevent the policy from passing. The program that President Obama attempted to create, called the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, allowed parents of American citizens to defer immigration action for a period which would allow them to remain in the US without the fear of deportation.

Immigration reform is a hot topic at US Immigration Bonds and in the tech industries. Many with large voices in that community point to the fact that a lot immigrants contribute to the tech industry in the US. An estimated 25% of all successful tech starts in the US were started by immigrants. Mark Zuckerberg warned that if immigration reform doesn’t allow for those skilled migrant workers to come to the US, the economy will lose out to jobs being outsourced at cheaper rates to overseas countries.

Mark Zuckerberg posted this to Facebook:

“As I travel around the world, I see many nations turning inwards. I hear growing voices for building walls and distancing people labeled as “other.” Whether it’s refugees, undocumented immigrants or underrepresented minorities, I hope we have the wisdom to understand that the best path forward is always to bring people together, not divide them.”
