Tax Preparers Targeting Immigrants for IRS Health Scams

A consumer alert was recently released, informing people to beware of tax preparers that are telling the tax payer to pay health law fines directly to them, rather than the government. The IRS reports that these corrupt tax preparers are targeting unsuspecting taxpayers, especially the elderly and immigrants.

The IRS made a public statement on March 13^th, saying that they have received thousands of reports nationwide of the health scams. These fraudulent tax preparers are using the ObamaCare law to convince tax payers of false fines and, rather than paying the government, telling them to pay the tax preparer, who are in turn keeping the money.

Some of these tax preparers are promising the tax payers if they pay them directly, that they can reduce the fines. They have even ventured out to people who are exempt from the ObamaCare law, demanding that they pay fines as well.
