ICE Arrests 2000+ Illegal Immigrants

After pressure from Congress, Operation Cross Check arrested 2,059 convicted illegals who are being prepared for deportation. Of the 2,059 arrested, reports showed that more than 1,000 of the arrested aliens have felony convictions for manslaughter, child pornography, robbery, kidnapping, and rape.

Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Sarah Saldana says, “these are not people we want out in our neighborhoods. These are the worst of the worst criminals.” Saldana continued to say, “By taking dangerous criminals off our streets and removing them from the country we are addressing a very serious security and public safety vulnerability.”

This recent flood of arrests has Obama administration officials touting that the arrests are a sign of progress.

Of the 2,059 detained immigrants, 58 have been identified as gang members, 89 as sex offenders, and roughly 25% have previously been deported and have re-entered into the United States illegally.

Numerous Republicans are in favor of the arrests. In 2013, Republicans up roared at the 36,007 “criminal aliens” that were released after being eligible for deportation from crimes unrelated to immigration; including 193 killers and 303 kidnappers. Iowa Republican Chuck Grassley also noted that over 1,000 of those released aliens were later convicted of new crimes. So the application of our resources to arrest, detain, and deport these criminal immigrants, has both political parties happy.

In 2014, DHS reported 315,943 deportations, while unsure of what the projected number is for 2015, Operation Cross Check has kicked off this year’s numbers.
