Senators Still Firm on Homeland Security Funding

Senate Democrats add pressure to House Republicans because of the Homeland Security fiasco. The Department of Homeland Security is scheduled to run out of money on Friday, and no bills can get passed for funding.

The fight for Homeland Security Funding is a dispute about more than just money, it has been used as leverage by Republicans to fight about Obama’s immigration policies.

The public is criticizing Speaker John Boehner saying that he is to blame if Homeland Security gets shutdown due to lack of funding. Mr. Boehner commended saying, “The House has done its job to fund the Department of Homeland Security and to stop the president’s overreach on immigration, and we’re waiting for the Senate to do their job.”

Republicans keep proposing bills that will provide Homeland Security funding but remove Obama’s executive action, however Democrats keep denying the proposal.

With the time ticking and Homeland Security on the brink of a shutdown, the government needs to come up with a solution, and fast.
