Obama’s Immigration Plan Arrives at Supreme Court

One of the biggest and most controversial undertakings in immigration reform is under attack from some 26 states, all led by Texas. On Monday, April 18, 2016, the eight sitting Supreme Court judges (the 9th spot still vacant following the death of Antonin Scalia in February) heard opening arguments from Donald Verrilli Jr. the government appellate lawyer defending President Obama, and Scott Keller, the presentative from Texas.

Immigration reform has been a hot topic in the Obama administration since the young Chicago Senator first started campaigning in 2007. After years of what administration officials call “frustration with a Republican heavy Congress”, Obama signed into law a new immigration reform that would grant an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants deferred action status, and some protection rights in the United States.

US Immigration Bonds keeps an eye on stories like this because of their importance to the United States and the future of U.S. citizens and immigrants alike. Immigration reform is an important and defining ideal for all countries. Right now, the fear is that the even number of judges could result in a deadlock 4 – 4 vote. It seems like the Supreme Court Justices are still split on the decision, and both sides are already making comments either for or against the reform.

Justice Sotomayor commented that the immigrants are already here and they are not going anywhere, so why not deal with the issue. In the event that you or a loved one has been detained and you are in need of an immigration bail bondsman in Texas, contact US Immigration Bonds and be released as soon as possible.
