Illegal Immigrants Continue to Cross the Border in the South

There is an estimate that there are 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. right now. And with the steady influx of migrant women and children that are coming from Central America, it is no surprise that that number is slowly climbing. Some blame the Obama administration, others blame poverty and gang violence in their home countries. Whatever the reason, there are no signs of these numbers decreasing anytime soon.

With the incredible divide that we call a government, there are major issues with immigration reform. Overall, House Democrats believe that there needs to be some type of immigration reform, whereas House Republicans believe that anything short of a mass deportation is granting amnesty to these immigrants. With such polar opposite views, it’s hard to find middle ground that everyone is willing to agree upon.

There are different protocols for different types of illegal immigrants that come to the U.S. Grown men are treated exceptionally different from teenage girls that come here without a parent or guardian. In the same light, pregnant women and mothers are going to be treated differently than single women without children. Republicans view this as amnesty to women and children.

Regardless, a church in McAllen Texas is opening their doors to Central American immigrants that have no where to go. Exhausted and famished the church is giving a hot plate, a place to sleep and bathe as well as donated clothes and shoes. Considering there is a monumental humanitarian crisis going on at the border, it is crucial that something is done in the near future about these illegal immigrants. Whether it be comprehensive immigration reform or a mass deportation, something needs to happen.Â
