Even after United States District Judge Andrew Hanen ruled to block Obama’s efforts, Obama believes that the ruling will be overthrown and the immigration executive action will be implemented.
US District Judge Hanen says that Obama’s Executive Action fails to comply with the Administrative Procedure Act – an act that requires the White House to have a notification and comment period before an action can take place.
Obama commented saying that he is confident the court’s injunction will be overruled, and is preparing to implement the order.
In the President’s words, “The Department of Homeland Security will continue with the planning because we want to make sure that as soon as these legal issues get resolved – which I anticipate they will, in our favor – that we are ready to go.”
Republicans welcomed the ruling and were excited for the ‘victory’. Republican Senator of Texas Ted Cruz proclaimed his excitement on Twitter, stating this was a “HUGE victory for rule of law.”
The Obama Administration and supporters argue that Obama has the right to take action as the President, and says that he only acted because Congress failed to pass immigration reform.
