More proposals are being given to ‘gut’ the provisions of Obama’s Executive Action on Immigration. The initial proposal from Obama was to give up to 5 million illegal immigrants work visas, and to take away their risk of deportation.
Immigration has always been a touchy subject, but Republicans and Democrats have been in a disagreement for the past few months.
Republicans have refused to budge on the subject, and have many statements saying that they will use the $40 billion funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security, as leverage to oppose Obama’s Executive Action.
Democrats are outraged, accusing Republicans of being cruel to hardworking aliens looking to create a better life for themselves in America; not to mention jeopardizing the Homeland Security budget simultaneously.
Democrat leader Senator Harry Reid, made a statement in mid-January saying, “Republicans have only been in control for a week, and already they are picking an unnecessary political fight that risks shutting down the Department of Homeland Security.”
