How to Check Your Immigration Status with USCIS

Home » Immigration Help & Resources » How to Check Your Immigration Status with USCIS

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service has upgraded their technological services over the past few years, and they now offer immigrants a way to check their personal case status and keep up with the progress of their application. US Immigration Bonds loves that immigrants can now file a petition through a cell phone text message. If you have applied to immigrate to the United States, whether it is under the family-based green card category or the employment-based green card category, you will probably find yourself waiting several weeks to months to hear back from USCIS. These delays are normal but can definitely cause a slight anxiety waiting on the final verdict. Fortunately, with the upgraded technological services from the USCIS, you are able to check the status of your partition or application.

Receipt Number:

To view the status of your immigration case, you are going to need to have the receipt number for your specific case handy. You petition or application receipt is a 13-digit number that will begin with three numbers which identify the office that is handling your application. The three numbers which identify your immigration application office will generally look something like EAC, LIN, SRC, or WAC. The providers of nationwide immigration bonds are more than familiar with the notoriously slow immigration system, this receipt number will be the ticket to navigating the immigration application process.

To check the status of your application, you will need to have access to the internet. Once you are on the website, click the “Check My Case Status” link and enter your receipt number. At this step, it is recommended by the immigration bail bond experts that you enroll in case updates which will alert you to the status of your case via text message or email. When you enter your receipt number online, you should omit the dashes but include all other characters, including the asterisks, as they are listed on your notice.

Steps to Achieving Immigration Visa:

The USCIS lists the nine processes that petitions and applications go through as parts of the process. US Immigration Bonds want you to keep in mind that not every application will need the same amount of time spent in each phase of the application process. Every case is unique and is treated as such, which is also based on the time contingency of the application office.

The nine steps of the application process includes:

  1. Acceptance
  2. Initial Review
  3. Request for Evidence
  4. Request for Evidence Response Review
  5. Testing and Interview
  6. Decision
  7. Post Decision Activity
  8. Oath Ceremony
  9. Card/Document Production

Once you have entered your application receipt number, the USCIS website will notify you of the location of your application and how far it has progressed in the nine step process. The website will also let you know how many more steps you have to go until a decision is made. The immigration bonds specialists recommend using the “Check Processing Times” link, which is a handy tool that you can use to see how long the various USCIS offices or service centers are taking to process the different types of applications in real time, so that you can determine whether or not you application has been lost in the shuffle.

US immigration bonds were absolutely the best they were super professional. When I was down and out when my husband was detained by immigration they were very caring , knowledgeable, and patient. I called them a thousand times and they were very empathic and helpful everytime I called. they reassures me that everything would be fine, and that they would help me my husband, and my children be reunited again. They did everything they could to get me a same day release. They exceeded my expectations. I would not recommend any company other than US immigration bonds. Us immigration bonds, under promises and over fulfills. They were a true blessing ! Thank you so much again.read more

Jeremy Wolf and his agency have been a terrific resource for me as I delve into this foreign world of bonding a friend out of jail so he and his wife can work on his case on the "outside." Jeremy has been unfailingly polite and informative and his video regarding how to complete the necessary forms was a valuable tool too. The entire process was quick and relatively easy. I especially appreciated not having to deal with a jaded, impatient, figure--it-out-yourself kind of person when I was treading in really unfamiliar territory. My questions were always answered quickly and efficiently.I highly recommend this company in your time of need for quick, efficient and professional service with no attitude or delay.read more

Jeremy Wolf, is compassionate and understanding. He has been there and done it with his own family, and together with his wife they dedicate their time and energy into helping other families come together. I know this because my husband was taken by ICE and his bond was set much higher than I could have imagined, having in my hands at any given time. ... With Jeremy, his wife and the rest of the team we were able to piece together the required 80% and set up a affordable and convient payment plan. It was a grueling process, at times I felt like I was going to loose all my hair, as I ran around selling homemade tamales, and had various other fund raisers going on, along with my husband being detained, I lost my home, my dog and my daughter and I pushed forward with the help and support of Jeremy and his team, if It wasn't for there hours of help and dedication, to put a previous bond for my nephew into action to help my husband, we wouldn't have been able to have him home for the Holidays. ... To Jeremy, Veronica, and Amber, who I spoke with often, and the other parts of the team who I was unable to catch their names, I THANK YOU, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!read more
