Films that Accurately Depict Immigration

Life is not always like in the movies. In real life there are no special effects, no stunt doubles, and unfortunately, there are not always happy endings. While plenty of movies depict immigration, not all of them do so accurately.
Films the Accurately Depict Immigration
At US Immigration Bonds & Insurance Services, we are nationwide immigration bondsmen who frequently deal with ICE immigration bonds and bond insurance services. We have direct experience with immigration and the challenges that immigrants face, so we want to point out two films that accurately depict immigration.
Hester Street (1975)
This film tells the story of Jewish immigrants in New York City during the turn of the century and their struggles with assimilating to America. Because the film is older, it is in black and white, but also has parts in Yiddish with English subtitles to fully submerge viewers into the family’s life. The Library of Congress even states that it is a film that, “historians have praised for its accuracy of detail and sensitivity to the challenges immigrants faced during their acculturation process”1.
Well-Founded Fear (2000)
Well-Founded Fear is a documentary that focuses on those seeking asylum in the United States. The story is told both from those people seeking asylum and the government officials interviewing them. Because the film is a documentary rather than a work of fiction, it shows parts of the immigration process that may get glossed over.
Life is not always a fairytale, especially for immigrants. If you are facing issues with ICE immigration bonds, you do not need to feel alone. Whether you are looking for immigration bonds in Texas or immigration bonds in California, seek us out at US Immigration Bonds & Insurance Services.
