President Trump’s Second Travel Ban is Blocked

It seems that Hawaii Attorney General Douglas Chin has filed to block the travel ban, and Chin is suing the federal government on grounds that the ban harms Hawaii’s tourism and international reputation.

The revised travel ban has been called “watered-down” by the Trump administration.

Here are the differences that can be found in the revised travel ban explanation:

• Iraq is no longer on the list of banned nations.
• Green card and permanent residents are not barred from entering the country.
• Persons with dual citizenships are also allowed to travel freely.

Here are the similarities between the revised travel ban and the previous version:

• The travel ban would run for 90 days.
• 6 out of the 7 original countries are still present on the current travel ban (Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen).
• The ban does not target the Muslim religion.

Though the final verdict on the travel ban ruling is still out, it’s clear that courts across the United States are still conflicted and no side is emerging as the clear winner in these cases.
