The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA)

The Immigration and Nationality Act is the governing body that deals with immigration law in the United States. It was created in 1952 and has undergone many changes since then as the ideas about immigration have changed.

Fourteenth Amendment

The fourteenth amendment says, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizen of the United States.¹”Basically, the fourteenth amendment establishes the citizenship of any baby born in the United States. Although the amendment was originally enacted following the cessation of slavery, it has become a topic of debate today.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Act

You have probably heard this act in the news recently. It’s a controversial act that expands protections for undocumented children brought to the United States at a young age from deportation. There are specific requirements the child must meet in order to qualify under DACA.
